UNIPOLAR MACHINE WITH CYLINDRICAL ROTOR WITHOUT SLIDING CONTACTS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H02K31/04 H02K21/36

Abstract RU 2396678 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: proposed machine is similar as to the design to unipolar direct current machines with cylindrical rotor. The above mentioned unipolar direct current machine (UM) has a number of disadvantages, including non-reliable brush contact assembly and low operating voltage, and thus, narrow application area. In its design there are no sliding brush contacts and annular peripheral liquid current terminals which are characterised by the fact that they lead to deterioration of wear resistance and reliability of UM, which are related to high friction coefficient and complexity of its design. As peripheral and annular assembly of current terminal in this case there used are electrically conducting belt gearings which are relatively easy allow in-series connection of active parts of several armature windings of cylindrical rotors for considerable increase of operating voltage. It is connected with the fact that there is no sliding between moving adjoining electrically conducting parts, i.e. surfaces of contact rings and belts. Irrespective of the number of active parts of armature windings and to external direct voltage source they can be connected in two axial liquid current terminals which have no disadvantages which annular liquid assemblies of current terminal have.

EFFECT: improved reliability, wear resistance, higher voltage and enlarging application area, which first of all are related to absence of sparking in current terminal assembly.
