FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of research of physical-mechanical properties of ice as material in ice technology, in particular to mechanical methods of ice destruction for the purposes of economic activity. Method for local destruction of ice cover from under water by means of mechanical action with stiff reservoir filled with air. Initiating ring is fixed on head part of stiff reservoir vessel to create preliminary concentration of load onto lower surface of ice cover, stability of stiff reservoir in floating is maintained through rotation generated as water ballast is displaced from nozzles arranged in lower part of stiff reservoir, which are lifted relative to its bottom and turned at the angle of 45° to reservoir vessel in horizontal plane.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of mechanical action at ice cover, reduced power inputs.
