SUBSTANCE: in process of operation a bath of melt metal (28) is formed in electric arc furnace (10) with minimum and maximum working levels. At the section (34) between minimum and maximum working levels a ring is attached to external jacket (12), and ring is made of relatively thick copper panels (20, 20'), having thickness of at least 20 mm, being in heat conducting contact with inner fire-resistant lining (24) at section (34) between minimum and maximum working levels and covering back cooling windows (39), arranged in external jacket (12). At the same time specified copper panels (20, 20') are provided with facilities of sprayed cooling.
EFFECT: improvement of cooling device.
