FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves using multiple oscillation modes and includes the following steps: calibration of the flow metre for each selected oscillation mode; determination of density of substance flowing through the flow metre for each selected oscillation mode; determination of the effect of flow on the value of density for each selected oscillation mode; and calculation of flow using density values and effect of flow on density values for each selected oscillation mode. In a special case of realising the disclosed method, the period of oscillation of the pipe may be determined for each selected oscillation mode; and temperature of the stream of the substance is calculated using calibration constants and the period of oscillation of the pipe for each selected oscillation mode.
EFFECT: invention enables warning of possible changes in properties of the material of the flow tube, its rigidity and its cross section parametres and indicates inaccuracy of mass flow measurements diagnosed by a Coriolis flow metre.
