FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: Felgen-stained nuclei of section of soft tissues from wall surrounding nidus of purulent inflammation are studied and ploidy of fibroblast nuclei is determined. If ploidy of nuclei is three and higher, process is defined as typical; if ploidy of nuclei is lower than three - as prolonged.
EFFECT: application of said method allows to determine course of phlegmons in maxillofacial region with high accuracy.
