FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: device has a frame, an ionising radiation detector, an information processing and control unit, a signal switching and accumulation unit, as well as a radar set antenna unit which uses a georadar method, a sensor for detecting presence of a person in the control zone of the device, a display panel with a sound alarm, a movable scanning platform on which the ionising radiation detector(s) is mounted together with a panel with the radar set antenna unit. The platform moves vertically in space through an electric drive on mechanical guides. A sensor-encoder and a sensor for fixing the platform in the upper and lower positions determine intermediate and final position of the platform in space during operation of the device. The frame of the device, the movable scanning platform, the panel with transmitting and receiving antennae, guides, the supports for holding the platform in its lower position, as well as drivers and overcoating of the device are made from dielectric materials, and the partition which separates the control zone of the device from the compartment with the rest of the equipment is made from radiotransparent plastic.

EFFECT: higher reliability and broader functionalities of detectors of illegal radioactive materials with a movable scanning platform.
