SUBSTANCE: device has a detector (detectors) of ionising radiation (radiations), a frame, an information processing and control unit, a metal detection signal generation unit, a sensor for detecting presence of a person in the control zone of the device, a display panel with a sound alarm, a movable scanning platform on which the ionising radiation detectors are mounted together with a panel with a unit of transmitting and receiving antennae lying in line on a common frame. The platform can move vertically in space through an electric drive on mechanical guides. A sensor-encoder and a sensor for fixing the platform in the upper and lower positions determine intermediate and final position of the platform in space during operation of the device. The frame of the device, the movable scanning platform, the panel with transmitting and receiving antennae, guides on which the platform moves in space, supports for holding the platform in its lower position, as well as drive apparatus and lining coating of the device are made from dielectric materials.

EFFECT: higher probability of detecting sources of ionising radiations, including attempt at smuggling in special metal containers which screen radiation, with determination of the location of the sources on the body or clothes of a person.
