FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: projective case with head comprises axially symmetric fragmentation shell (FS) made up of rigidly jointed steel rings with regularly distributed strength decreases and is arranged so that FS rings have radial grooves facing the case axis. FS features variable lengthwise cross section because of different-section rings and different number of ring layers varying over the length. Rings, within the boundaries of every layer and in two adjacent layers, are jointed together by intermittent welded seams so that welded sections of adjacent seams are displaced FS is made up of rings fabricated on casing wall from precut steel bans sections with grooves arranged regularly over the length. For this, casing wall is embraced by said steel band section and welded thereto in place. Ring fabrication jobs are alternated with jointing adjacent rings together.

EFFECT: higher density of fragmentation and their speed.
