SUBSTANCE: image forming apparatus has several developing devices arranged in the direction of rotation of the image carrier and which supply developer to the image carrier; several developing devices containing a first developing device with the largest developer storage capacity and a second developing device lying at the lowest position in the direction of movement relative the direction of rotation of the image carrier and having developer storage capacity less than that of the first developing device, and larger than developer storage capacity of the rest of the developing devices.
EFFECT: reduced contamination of developing devices.
