FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: installation consists of melting furnace, containing melting chamber with arc heating units and shaft with charge materials loading mechanism, and of gas system for supply and intake of gas. The installation is equipped with at least one device for combustion of gas in a layer of charge with utilisation of air and/or oxygen; this device is positioned in a shaft zone of the furnace; further, the installation is equipped with upper and lower branches of intake of gas from the shaft zone of the furnace and with the branch for supply of gas in a roof of the melting chamber. The branches of intake of gas from the shaft zone of the furnace are communicated with gas tracts made with regulators of gas consumption, with the device for gas combustion in the layer of charge in the shaft zone of the furnace, with heating units and with the branch of supply of gas in the roof of the melting chamber. Also the installation is equipped with a facility for control of chemical composition of gases in tracts.
EFFECT: maintaining required concentration of reducing gas in each zone of furnace, extraction of maximal percent of valuable materials from source ore, raised efficiency of furnace.
