ELECTRIC FIELD SENSOR FOR OPERATION IN MARINE ENVIRONMENT Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC G01R29/12 G01V3/08

Abstract RU 2402029 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: sensor (5) has at least two electrodes (3, 4); apparatus (5) for transmitting signals measured by the sensor (5) to a signal processing unit (6); at least two closed containers (1, 2) made from electrically insulating material and filled with electrolyte (E), and at least two flexible tubes (7, 8) made from electrically insulating material. At least one electrode (3, 4) is enclosed in each container (1, 2). At least one first tube end (7a, 8a) runs to each container (1, 2) such that fluid media flows into the container through the said end. The second tube end (7b, 8b) is open and joined to apparatus (9a, 9b) for accurate positioning of this tube end (7b, 8b). The tubes (7, 8) can be filled with medium (W) of the same type as that in which the sensor (S) is designed to operate. Two containers (1, 2) which form a shared pair of containers lie close to each other in approximately the same conditions with respect to temperature, pressure and chemical composition of the medium.

EFFECT: good sensitivity owing to a large measuring base, prevention of drift, possibility of measuring horizontal and vertical electric fields.
