SUBSTANCE: method and system are realised to provide notices about changes in status of contacts availability. Notification system makes it possible for the user to indicate those contacts of interest, for which the user wants to receive messages, when the contact changes over to a certain status of availability. When information of contact availability is received, notification system identifies, whether the contact is the contact of interest, specified by the user. If so, then notification system identifies, whether information of availability indicates change in status of availability, which is of interest for the user. In the contact and change of availability status are of interest for the user, notification system notifies the user.

EFFECT: development of mechanism, making it possible for subscribing user to find out, when a publishing contact, which is currently of interest, becomes available for communication, without necessity to monitor information on availability of all contacts, to which the user has subscribed.
