FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of tricyclo-[6;6;0;0]-hexadecadiene-6,10 via [2+2]cyclodimerisation of cyclooctadiene-1,5. The method is characterised by that [2+2]cyclodimerisation of cyclooctadiene-1,5 takes place in the presence of a catalyst system - a bis[1,2:5,6-η-cyclooctadiene-1,5] nickel complex combined with boron trifluoride etherate in an ethylene atmosphere, in molar ratio BF3·OEt2: Ni=10:1. (toluene or benzene) or directly in cyclooctadiene-1,5.
EFFECT: present method simplifies the process and speeds up the tricyclo-[6;6;0;0]-hexadecadiene-6,10 synthesis reaction.
