The scanning device has a driving generator (1), a modulation code generator (2), a phase shift keying device (3), a power amplifier (4), reception antennae (12), (13), (14), (15), (16), an intermediate frequency amplifier (24), spectrum analysers (25) and (27), a phase doubler (26), a comparator unit (28), a switch (29), a phase halver (30), a narrow bandpass filter (31), a phase detector (32), multipliers (33)-(36), narrow bandpass filters (37)-(40), phase meters (41)-(44), subtracters (45) and (46), adders (47) and (48), a detection unit (49), a duplexer (50), a correlator (51), a multiplier (52), a low-pass filter (53), an optimal control (54), a controlled delay unit (55), a range indicator (56), a frequency detector (57), a flip flop (58) and a dual balance switch (59). The transponder has a piezoelectric crystal (6), a microstrip transceiving antenna (7), electrodes (8), buses (9) and (10) and reflectors (11).
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities of the known method through determination of range to the vessel in distress, more reliable determination of the identification number the vessel in distress due to elimination of the sign ambiguity phenomenon.
