FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making sheet glass from hollow glass cylinders. Two arbors in form of rods are put into the cylinder. The glass cylinder is suspended horizontally on the first and the second arbor is placed freely on the inner surface of the glass cylinder along its edge using a weight Par. Heating is carried out until achieving plastic state of the glass cylinder and then held in that state until the distance between the arbors increases to a given length Lop zad due to plastic deformation of the glass cylinder. Heating of the deformed glass cylinder with arbors is stopped and after cooling to solid state of the deformed glass cylinder, flat sections are cut. The value of the given distance between arbors Lar div and the value of the weight of the second arbor Par satisfy the conditions: where di is the inner diametre of the glass cylinder; dar is the diametre of the first and second arbors; Pc is the weight of the glass cylinder; Pcrit is the critical value of the weight of the second arbor at which the glass cylinder breaks down in the solid state of the glass.
EFFECT: increased transparency of the glass sheet and its flatness.
