FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: signal detection method involves generation of quadrature components of signals received by a radar set, quantisation thereof on range with Nyquist frequency, matched filtration with weight processing, calculation of the modulus of quadrature components at the output of a matched filter, interpolation of the signal amplitude peak value from the value of the modulus of quadrature components at the output of the matched filter in 3 range elements, comparing the signal amplitude peak value with the detection threshold C which is selected so as to provide the given false alarm probability, making a decision on signal detection if the signal amplitude peak value exceeds the detection threshold. In the first version the signal amplitude peak value interpolated only if the modulus of the estimate of the temporary position of the peak of the amplitude of the signal exceeds a threshold value, and in the second version, when weight processing in the matched filter is switched off, interpolation of the signal amplitude peak value is carried out based on modulus values of quadrature components at the output of the matched filter in 2 range elements, with checking of the corresponding condition, wherein in order to decide on presence of a signal, the said detection threshold C is made a variable which depends on operations carried out to determine the signal amplitude peak value.

EFFECT: lower signal detection loss.
