FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: magnetoresistive head-gradiometre has a substrate with a dielectric layer on which there are four rows of thin-film magnetoresistive strips (strips), where the said rows are connected into a bridge circuit by non-magnetic low-resistance jumpers and the said strips are connected in series by similar jumpers in each arm of the bridge circuit and each of them has a top and a bottom protective layer between which there is a ferromagnetic film, a first insulating layer on top of the strips on which there is a conductor with working parts which are perpendicular to the strips, a second insulating layer, a planar coil and a protective layer. All strips are in one row and the row nearest to the edge of the wafer lies away from the three remaining rows at a distance of not less than ten times the repetition period of these rows. In all strips the easy magnetisation axis of the ferromagnetic film is at an angle of 45° to the longitudinal axis of the strip.
EFFECT: design of a magnetoresistive head-gradiometre based on a metallic ferromagnetic nanostructure with planar flow of the sensor current having a linear volt-oersted characteristic and which enables measurement of local magnetic fields on large areas without reacting on the uniform magnetic field acting on it.
