DEVICE FOR PROTECTION OF WATER INTAKE STRUCTURE AGAINST FISH AND GARBAGE INGRESS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC E02B8/08 

FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in formation of controlled summary flow of water developed as a result of water flow supply into jet-forming nozzles arranged along perimetre of through hole provided in waterproof wall, which entrails floating items into motion towards through hole and provides for their subsequent movement from through hole. Summary flow is formed at the side of the main watercourse behind waterproof wall that fences water receiving window from the main watercourse, and it is also sent towards the main watercourse. At the same time summary flow develops a transit garbage and fish diverting stream, which discharges floating items, caught garbage, algae, fishes and its young fishes via through hole arranged in waterproof wall, from the cavity formed by water receiving window and inner side of waterproof wall, downstream the main watercourse relative to water receiving window. At the same time transit garbage and fish diverting stream together with water intake stream forms a whirlpool stream that separates settled garbage, algae and deposits from filtering screen of water receiving window in the area between water receiving window and inner side of waterproof wall. Separated garbage, algae and deposits are also discharged via through hole by means of transit garbage and fish diverting stream downstream the main watercourse relative to water receiving window.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of water intake structure protection against ingress of fish and young fishes in it, as well as domestic and natural debris with minimum operations costs, while observing environmental requirements.
