SUBSTANCE: method involves addressing slave devices through their different connection to a double line without using special apparatus and software tools for addressing the devices themselves. Slave devices are identical and each is fitted with an electrical connector with greater number of contacts than the number of wires in the line, and parametres of response signals to the request of the master device are varied depending on the plug pins to which wires of that line are connected. The varied parametre is delay time relative the request signal of the master device, frequency, amplitude and/or duration of the response signal. The slave devices are particularly made in form of sensors with hardware support or based on a microcontroller. Information can also be transmitted from the master device to the slave devices, in particular by varying any parametre of the request signal, e.g. its duration, or by generating a request signal in form of a digital sequence of pulses.
EFFECT: high fault tolerance and manufacturability of slave devices and provision for their compatibility.
