FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed ionisation source consists of ionisation chamber comprising inducing electrode secured to dielectric plate surface and corona-forming electrode arranged opposite said inducing electrode, and high-voltage pulse source. Note here that corona-forming electrode is separated fro dielectric plate surface by 10-100 mcm-gas gap. Note also that purified gas feed system is connected to ionisation chamber to control rate of gas volume flow.
EFFECT: control over composition and amount of generated ions, higher sensitivity of detecting trace amount of substances in gas phase.
