FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: colour image from a biological preparation is entered into a computer. Noise is filtered out and all images of the objects and their elements are segmented in one processing operation through interactive threshold conversion in HSV and RGB colour feature spaces. Thresholds are interactively determined. By indicating on the initial image regions corresponding to object elements, each region is displayed in form of an array of reference points having standard colour features for each same-type object element. Segmentation is carried out by comparing the distance in colour feature space between the current point of the image and reference points indicated earlier, wherein the current point is considered to belong to that element the distance to the reference point of which is minimal. Results of altering parametres of segmentation settings are displayed in real time in a preview window. This setting is applied to the entire image and automatically used in segmentation of the entire preparation. A logic filter removes all objects not subject to analysis and connected regions corresponding to objects and their internal elements are formed.

EFFECT: higher rate and accuracy of processing and analysing images.
