FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and appliances intended for protection of crew against ionising radiation. In compliance with this invention, protective static electric or magnetic field is induced around space ship to be localised between two closed nontangent surfaces. Space ship protected surface is limited by inner space, while outer surface isolates space ship and protected space against interplanetary plasma. Shape of surfaces may be arbitrary. In using electric protective field, charges of identical magnitude and opposite sign are generated. In such capacitor, electric field is concentrated between capacitor plates-surface. In the case of magnetic field, opposed currents are passed through the surfaces, while currents ratio is selected to minimise residual outside field magnitude. In this case, preferable is toroidal surface to provide for continuous protection. Charged particles drive by Lorentz forces moves along deflecting curvilinear trajectories or enclosed orbits between surfaces. Electric and magnetic fields may be used at a time. Note here that charged particles absorbing material may be arranged between surfaces: for example, liquid hydrogen, water or polyethylene.

EFFECT: reliable continuous (geometrically continuous) protection against space radiation, simplified design.
