FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure for determination of strength of powder coating produced by plasma sputtering with successive hardening by electro-mechanic treatment consists in application of powder coating on surface of hollow cylinder sample. Thickness of coating is it is further hardened by electro-mechanical treatment. On internal surface of the hollow cylinder sample there is made a circular groove at depth tgr equal to 0.75-0.85 of thickness of wall ttreat of the hollow cylinder sample which is determined from condition ttreat>10tcoat. The circular grooving at the same depth is made on a reference-specimen. The sample with coating and the reference-specimen are tested for axial tension to destruction, upon which there determined strength of powder coating from condition:
where: σu coat is ultimate strength of coating: σu samp is ultimate strength of the sample with coating; σu ref is ultimate strength of the reference specimen;
- is relative area of coating cross section; Acoat is area of cross section of coating in the point of destruction; Asamp is area of cross section of the sample with coating in the point of destruction.
EFFECT: upgraded accuracy and reliability of determination of strength of powder coating.
