FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering and can be used to determine the cohesive strength of powder coatings applied by gas-dynamic spraying. The method includes the following operations: making a flat sample-substrate, applying the investigated powder coating, processing the coating by turning flush with the surface of the substrate from the outside, breaking the sample in a tensile testing machine, determining the strength value. In the substrate in the center, a transverse groove is made in the form of an inverted trapezoid with a base width of 15-25 mm, a depth of 2/3 of the substrate thickness and the corners between the side planes and the base of the groove at least 120 degrees, having roundings with a radius of at least 4 mm, then the groove is filled with powder coating, then from the back side of the substrate by turning, remove the metal base of the groove to the deposited coating, after which the sample is broken.

EFFECT: improving the manufacturability of the method, increasing the accuracy of test results by improving the quality of the sprayed layer.
