FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: viewing system (2) having an upgradable architecture of an event processor has multiple detector modules (4) lying around the corresponding viewing area (8) for detecting radiation from the analysed object lying in the viewing area (8); multiple groups of processor elements (6), where each group contains processor elements of at least one of the multiple radiation detector modules (4), where each processor element (6) provides corresponding detected radiation events with a time mark; and the time marked event is put into a chronologically ordered position in an event data stream (10) and a system (22, 54) for detecting coincidence, which receives the chronologically ordered stream of events and detects coinciding pairs of events for use in reconstructing at least one corresponding image of the object.

EFFECT: radiation events detected by a scanner with many detector modules, improved data stream and highly efficient processing, easy data transmission.
