FIELD: analysis of materials through determining physical properties, in particular, examination or analysis of objects by radiation methods to detect radioactive materials and sources.
SUBSTANCE: claimed hodoscope detector contains a block of hydrogen-containing scintillating optical elements, placed in rows in turns in two mutually perpendicular directions, and photo-detectors. Scintillating optical elements are made in form of rods with rectangular cross-section covered by light-reflecting cover, forming a packet, on at least one side of each rod of packet grooves are made, in grooves, scintillating filaments are positioned, on the ends of filaments, photo-diodes are positioned, at least one side of packet is serially covered by two couples of plates for registration of heat neutrons and for registration of gamma quanta, each couple is divided by additional plates made of substances which weaken appropriate types of radiation, photo-diodes and couples of plates for registration of heat neutrons and for registration of gamma quanta are provided with contacts for connection to circuits for registration of scintillation flashes.
EFFECT: possible reaction to both fast neutrons and heat neutrons, and also to gamma and x-ray radiation; possible identification of radiation and possible detection of direction towards radiation source.
