FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to measuring control tools and can be used for inspection and determination of overall dimensions of cars of train set on railway transport. Method involves measurement of distances by means of laser ranging systems simultaneously to car walls or load in two controlled transverse vertical planes at various heights from level of rail head, recording of the involved information to memory of computing device, formation of image in the form of bitmaps, comparison of the formed images with the image of maximum allowable loading size, which is pre-recorded in the memory of computing device and if it is exceeded, alarm audio signal is generated. Device includes clearance gauge with optic units connected by means of communication links to computing device to which monitor, image processing unit and comparing unit of limits of loading gauge is connected. Output of computing device is connected to input of image processing unit the output of which is connected to the first input of comparing unit of loading gauge, to the second output of which the output of memory unit of computing device is connected, in which there pre-recorded is the image of maximum allowable loading gauge, and output of computing unit is connected to the second input of monitor.
EFFECT: enlarging the area of remote control of loading gauges of cars owing to using laser ranging systems.
