FIELD: railway engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, specifically to remote monitoring of dimensions and positioning correctness of cargo carried on open rolling-stock (RS). The method includes determination of areas and degrees of cargo oversising on open rolling-stock using television images, monitoring of loading size limits observance when RS passes control area formed by optical limits of clearance gage sensors, video monitoring of passing RS. Telecameras are located in pairs in desired area of zones and cargo oversising degrees monitoring. Optoelectronic sensors are set along borders of RS loading gage. Information about limiting dimensions violation is transmitted over communication channels and displayed on monitor screen of operator's personal computer (PC). To attract operator's attention to violation, alarm signal with violation area indication is generated. Oversize cargo point of interest is indicated using cursor on computer monitor screen, and oversize cargo position is calculated using PC. Oversising degree zones of cargoes are determined from vertical coordinate, and oversising degrees of cargoes are determined from horizontal coordinate of oversize cargo. Obtained information is displayed on computer monitor screen with specification of coordinates from track centerline and from rail head level to the edge of oversize cargo.
EFFECT: providing RS movement safety insured by timely detection of oversize cargo in train during monitoring zones and degrees of cargo oversising on RS using television images.
