FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for increasing quality of rolled thick sheet and reducing coefficient of materials consumption at reversing mill. Proposed method comprises heating the biller, its crosswise rolling for width division and lengthwise rolling with reduction in horizontal and vertical rolls. Billet crosswise rolling in horizontal rolls is made to width making 1.005-1.03 of finished sheet width with due allowance for lateral trimming. Note here that, in crosswise rolling at least two reductions of intermediate billet is made in vertical rolls along face edges, while in lengthwise rolling after width division at least two smoothing reductions are made in vertical rolls on side edges, simultaneously with reduction in horizontal rolls. Each reduction of intermediate billet in vertical rolls on side edges is performed after 2-4 reductions over thickness in horizontal rolls, while single-pass relative reduction in vertical rolls does not exceed 15%.
EFFECT: elimination of end shape distortions and lateral laps on finished products.
