SUBSTANCE: in compliance with first version, proposed device is arranged inside steering tube case that covers steering tube rear end part. Said steering tube has steering shaft and steering shaft jacket. The latter represents a dual-tube structure. Steering tube has first and second guards and air cushion module secured to steering tube for it to be located on steering tube jacket above jacket sliding part between said first and second guards. Air cushion module comprises gas generator and knees protection air cushion. First guard represents combined switch, while second guard represents the housing for mounting steering column jacket on instrumentation panel amplifier extending over the car width. In compliance with second version, gas generator is arranged inside air cushion module, while folded air cushion is arranged inside air cushion module on the side of second guard and nearby gas generator.

EFFECT: higher safety of driver due to free folding of steering column in collision and driver knees isolation.
