FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves the following. Structures in a first image are selected. The structures have a first shape type deformed in a first direction. The selected structures are transformed to a second shape type different from the first shape type. The transformed structures of the second shape type are used to form image templates. A new structure in a second image is identified. The new structure has the first shape type. The second shape type structure of each image template is deformed in the first direction. It is determined which image template is the preferred template which best matches the new structure. A range of image templates is deformed to that they take up the shape of the new structure which is elliptically shaped. Each deformed image template is analysed in order to verify that each preferred image template best matches the new structure having an elliptical shape on the second image.
EFFECT: high quality of identification and faster analysis of virus particles using an electron microscope.
