SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biology. Disclosed is a method of assessing the quality of a flavivirus sample to obtain a three-dimensional structure using free electron lasers, involving separating a solution containing flavivirus particles into three portions, where the first and second portions are scanned using a transmission electron microscope, wherein the second portion is subjected to vitrification, and a third portion is placed in an X-ray quartz capillary with subsequent determination of particle size distribution by small-angle X-ray scattering.

EFFECT: this method provides sampling of flaviviruses corresponding to the necessary criteria for further experiments with them.
