FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in preliminary shift of open and closed grooves by means of open flange of foot thinning at value increasing in course of rolling with change of gauges. Reduction of time for profile set-up and upgraded accuracy of gauge set-up with consideration of intensity of operation in preceding gauges are achieved like follows: a value of groove shifting in each following finish doubled gauge during rolling is determined with consideration of rolling process in gauges preceding the finish one in accordance with expression considering relation of values of grooves shifting at rollers boring in k- finish doubling gauge and in preceding k-gauge; number of doubling gauges in rollers, summary value of collar wear, value of the most intense shift of grooves during cones running-in at the beginning of the first gauge operation, and also coefficient considering influence of rolling process in gauges preceding the finish gauge.
EFFECT: improved treatment of surface of rail profile head rolling, improved symmetry of rail, increased efficiency at rail rolling implementing support cones.
