FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method is intended for producing metal composite materials with matrix from magnesium or its alloys reinforced by refractory fillers that can be used as structural material of parts incorporated with helicopter engine and airframe, automotive wheel disks and aircraft steering linkages. Mix of magnesium or magnesium alloy chips with silicon carbide powder with 1-10 mcm-dispersity are subjected to mechanical doping in atmosphere of inert gas at 100°C, max, for at least 30 h. Briquette is compacted at 250-300°C and 40-50 MPa, and extruded at 250-300°C and 50-60 MPa.

EFFECT: higher mechanical properties and yield without using special equipment.
