FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: rail foot is thermally treated across welded joint zone, outside the thermal effect zone subjected to welding effects, with reduction in welding zone temperature to 450°C and rail foot heating duration of 17-25 min, without thermal treatment of rail head. Proposed device comprises torches arranged on opposite sides of welded rail with their nozzle holes directed to rail foot and connected via discharge pipes with gas mixers of actuating and adjusting gas feed. Note here that device comprises frame formed by fastening element of rail head, beam with torch position adjustment elements and casing protecting rail head against heat transfer arranged between them.
EFFECT: higher strength of welded joint.
