FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: metal ball is suspended on non-stretched thread in form of mathematical pendulum, it is deviated at specified angle and freely released, whereupon it collides with obstacle, stiffness of which is to be measured during vibro-impact process. An observer records a period of oscillations, i.e. time required for free transfer, collision and a rebound. Stiffness of material is evaluated by formula: where: c is stiffness, m is weight of a ball, T12 is complete time of an oscillation, g is acceleration of a free fall, l is length of a non-stretched thread.
EFFECT: evaluation of stiffness of flexible supports, of contact stiffness of materials including thin-wall elements, reduced time for measurements, and elimination of disassembly of structure or its assembly on bench.
