FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves determination of the period of angular oscillations of a mathematical pendulum which is a striker made from hard material suspended on an inextensible cord which collides with a rod made from test material and determining the modulus of elasticity using the formula: where: T12 is the complete period of oscillation, g is gravitational acceleration, l is the length of the inextensible cord, h is the thickness of the measured sample, F is the cross-sectional area of the measured sample, m is the mass of the metallic sphere.
EFFECT: determination of the modulus of elasticity of material without using complex equipment, including electronic units for measuring frequency of oscillations, which lowers the cost of the process of determining modulus of elasticity, low frequency of the working process reduces the effect of energy scattering in the test sample.
