FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: here is disclosed procedure of operation of catalytic neutraliser-accumulator of nitrogen oxides for long time operating at low - from 120 to 250°C - temperature of spent gases, when accumulating capacity of neutraliser-accumulator gradually drops because of not complete regeneration at such temperature. According to invention, the catalytic neutraliser is subjected to two-stage regeneration to reactivate accumulating capacity to an initial level under such conditions. First, the catalytic neutraliser is partially regenerated at low temperature of spent gases by means of transfer of the engine from mode of work on depleted combustible mixture to mode of work on enriched combustible mixture. Further, temperature of spent gases is raised to 300-400°C at maintaining their enriched composition for complete regeneration of the catalytic neutraliser.
EFFECT: reduced exhaust of nitrogen oxides into atmosphere.
