FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of a specific method for the targeted desulfurization of certain storage catalysts of nitrogen oxides. Use of the method of targeted desulfurization of catalysts-accumulators of nitrogen oxides, used to reduce the toxicity of exhaust gases. Exhaust gases operate mainly on depleted mixtures of gasoline engines and have cerium and alkaline-earth metal-containing nitrogen oxides-accumulating materials at a weight ratio between cerium-containing and an alkaline earth metal-containing nitrogen oxide accumulating materials ranging from 10:1 to 20:1. Nitric oxide storage catalysts are desulfurized at temperatures not lower than 500 °C, air/fuel ratio λ, which on the average lies in the range from not less than 0.98 to no more than 1.0.
EFFECT: invention is primarily directed to the use of a certain method adapted to special storage catalysts of nitrogen oxides and provides a significant reduction in the emission of hydrogen sulphide.
