SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanisms designed to unwind paper reels. Proposed device is arranged between work positions. Said reel runs free about its lengthwise axis. Device comprises carriage, carriage support, carriage drive and carriage drive control appliance. Carriage serves to support almost empty reel and displace it between working positions. Brake and two wheels are arranged on each side of the carriage. Brake acts on the wheel to decelerate reel rotation. Reel displaces between working positions at preset speed along preset trajectory. Speed of almost empty reel is reduced at the gearing end. Controlled displacement of revolving reels.
EFFECT: optimum control over paper tension.
