Method for managing the continuous feeding of elongate element (3) wound on reels (5) to station (2) for building a tyre, wherein the elongate element is continuously supplied from unwinding device (10) of successive reels. When terminal end (3a) of elongate element (3) wound on a first reel (14) leaves said first reel: first reel (14) is moved away from said unwinding device (10) on first movable carriage (20); second reel (18), successive to the first reel and mounted on second movable carriage (21), is positioned in place of said first reel; and terminal end (3a) of the elongate element previously wound on the first reel to be joined to starting end (3b) of the elongate element wound on second reel (18).
EFFECT: invention allows to maintain the first part of the device fixed in place, and the second part to make it movable.
