FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus has a composite substrate made from optical material, two diffraction elements lying on the first or second surface and placed with possibility of receiving an input optical beam, and two extra diffraction elements lying on the first or second surface of the substrate. The substrate has fist and second parts which can rotate relative each other about a line dividing said parts. At least part of the input optical beam undergoes diffraction on two diffraction elements to obtain two diffracted optical beams, and at least part of the diffracted optical beams then comes out of the composite substrate through diffraction on each of the said extra diffraction elements to obtain two essentially identical output optical beams with an expanded exit pupil.

EFFECT: easy use of the display.
