FIELD: optical systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical systems, more specifically to optical radiation beam expanders used to create illumination in the means of forming and/or displaying a three-dimensional image. The optical radiation beam expansion device contains a first optical element, a second optical element and a composite waveguide containing at least two component waveguides separated by dichroic coatings. The first optical element is made with the possibility of introducing collimated incident optical radiation into a composite waveguide. The composite waveguide is designed with the possibility of separating optical radiation into multiple wavefronts by means of dichroic coatings and mixing multiple wavefronts with full internal reflection in the composite waveguide. The second optical element is designed to output optical radiation from the composite waveguide.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of the optical system while maintaining the coherence and collimation of the optical radiation beam at the output and reducing or eliminating speckles.
