FIELD: fire-fighting means.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to fire-fighting means. An extinguishant contains an atomised or crystalline/ settled carbonate material mixed with an aqueous carrier medium, preferentially in the form of a homogeneous dispersion. A method for making said extinguishant consists in atomising the carbonate material to particle size less than 0.5 mm, adding the carrier medium in the form of water or an aqueous solution, or the dispersion is prepared by adding carbon dioxide to dissolved oxide or hydroxide followed by crystallisation/agglomeration and dehydration to required concentration. The method of fire extinguishing consists in spraying said extinguishant in a seat of fire.
EFFECT: more effective fire extinguishing.
