FIELD: medicine, pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to organic chemistry and medicine, and concerns an improved method for preparing 4-chlor-N-(2-morpholinoethyl)benzamide being a substance of the drug moclobemide, by reaction of 4-chlorbenzoylchloride with 2-morpholinoethylamine in a water-immiscible solvent medium, wherein a product is dissolved by processing a reaction mixture by aqueous alkaline solutions followed by separation from an organic layer by substituting a first solvent for non-polar one, and filtering.
EFFECT: method allows preparing a high-yield (95% of the theory) product of high compendial grade (100 %, HELC) without crystalline modification.
