FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: receiver has a matrix structure with Golay cells, each of which is a gas-filled chamber, one end of which is the entrance window of electromagnetic radiation and the opposite end is closed by a flexible membrane with reflective coating on the outer side, and there is an absorbing element inside the chamber. The absorbing element of the Golay cell is in form of an ultra-thin (at least 50 times smaller than the wavelength of the terahertz radiation) resonant absorbing layer which has a high-impedance surface which faces the entrance window of the cell. The matrix has cells with given optical characteristics of absorbing layers which are determined by the given topology of the high-impedance surfaces.

EFFECT: possibility of taking measurements in the terahertz region with spatial and polarisation resolution in single-spectrum and multi-spectrum modes.
