FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: for each connection the control and protection device includes excess-voltage protection unit, synchronism control device, remote protection unit, unit for determining the damage place, ground fault protection unit, emergency mode recording device, processing unit of measured values, automatic reclosure signal formation unit, power supply voltage converter, voltage sensor on power bus, current sensor of power feeder; there also introduced is the second remote protection unit the first input of which is connected to the output of power bus voltage sensor, the second input of which is connected to the output of additional current sensor of adjacent power feeder and the output of which is connected to additional input of the unit for determining the damage place. The second object, which is control system of traction substation, includes substation control cabinet connected to the communication centre conjugated to telecontrol and telesignalisation signal transmission line, thus gathering the measurement data from remote measurement devices, status information from the substation equipment; status information is processed and presented by means of indication and signalling device characterised by the fact that for protection of alternating current connections of the proposed system there used are control and protection devices of connections; at that, remote measurement devices and control and protection devices of connections are connected to control cabinet of substation according to serial interface RS - 485.

EFFECT: enlarging functional capabilities, improving operating reliability of connections owing to redundancy of protection function of adjacent connection at inconsiderable increase of hardware; providing the possibility of accurate determining of damage place for double-track sections of catenary considering electromagnetic communication of contact wires of two adjacent tracks.
