FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and can be used in producing foamed graphite and a product therefrom, for example graphite foil. Natural graphite is treated with nitric acid in ratio of graphite to nitric acid equal to 1:(0.6-0.8).The obtained intercalated graphite compounds undergo hydrolysis with 20-30% ammonia solution in ratio of intercalated graphite compounds to ammonia solution equal to (1.6-1.8):(0.2-0.4). The obtained intercalated graphite is dried at temperature not higher than 40°C.
EFFECT: invention is wasteless and more efficient.
