FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of intercalated graphite and production of products based on said graphite - cellular graphite and flexible graphite sheets (foil) with high thermal stability in the medium of an oxidising agent (air) and can be used in production of fire-protective and sealing products, heat insulating articles and lining elements of furnaces. The method of producing intercalated graphite involves reaction of graphite particles with concentrated sulphuric acid in the presence of an oxidising agent with addition of boric acid in weight ratio sulphuric acid to boric acid equal to (2-12):1 to obtain intercalated graphite compounds, followed by hydrolysis of the obtained intercalated graphite compounds to form intercalated graphite and then drying. The obtained intercalated graphite contains graphite particles, the surface of which is uniformly coated with boric acid crystals, wherein the intercalated graphite contains up to 1.5 wt % boron.

EFFECT: obtaining intercalated graphite and graphite foil based on said graphite with improved anti-oxidative properties using a simple, efficient and cheap method.
