FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in metallurgy to produce solar-grade silicon. Silicon is ground to particles smaller than 100 mcm and then fed into a purification reactor 3 from a storage bin with a feeder. The reactor 3 is filled with a chemically active gas, for example, chlorine, through an opening 2, heated with electrical heaters 4 in the working zone to temperature 900-1410°C and conditions for mixing the powder are created. The powder is kept in the working zone for at least 1 hour, fed into a melting chamber 8 with pure molten silicon and purified silicon 12 is periodically released by a batcher 11 into a casting mould 13.
EFFECT: invention enables efficient removal of impurities and obtain silicon in form of boules with purity of 99,9995%.
